How to start a vegetable garden at home: a beginner's guide
To start a vegetable garden at home, begin with a bright, airy spot, a pot with drainage and a plant you often use in the kitchen. A small garden lets you learn without wasting seedlings.

Prepare the first pot
Watch for a day where direct sun hits. Use a container suitable for growing, with clear holes and a light potting mix. Lettuce and chives are good options to compare in separate pots.
Record and adjust
Label the planting date. Check moisture with your finger and water when needed, letting excess water drain out. Before adding more pots, see whether the leaves on the first one have grown well.
