How to grow carrots at home and harvest in about 90 days
To grow carrots, sow them directly where they will stay, in deep, loose soil. Use 90 days as a rough reference and check the variety's packet to estimate the harvest window.

Make room for the root
Remove stones and clods and use a container deeper than the expected carrot length. Make a shallow furrow and spread the seeds, keeping the soil moist while they germinate.
Thin and check readiness
Remove extra seedlings once they are firm, leaving space between the ones that stay. Near the suggested window, pull one root as a test and adjust the date for the rest by thickness and flavor.
