Easy vegetables for people who have never grown anything
Lettuce, chives and radishes are good candidates for a first garden with light and drainage. Each one teaches a different kind of care: picking leaves, cutting herbs or following a root.

Choose according to your space
To start from a seedling, try lettuce. To sow directly, try radish. To pick small portions often, set aside a pot of chives.
Plant a little and keep notes
Note the date, check moisture and see which crop adapts best. Repeat the pot that worked best before adding more variety.
