What to plant each month: a vegetable calendar for Brazil

By Fazendinha Retrô Team · Published on

The best month to plant depends on the region, the variety and the conditions in your yard. Build your calendar from a regional table and use the dates as windows to check against local conditions.

An illustrated calendar without numbers showing four seasons, a map of Brazil and pots of radish and tomato.

An example with radish

In the table from Embrapa (Brazil's agricultural research agency), radish windows run from March to August in the South, Southeast and North, March to July in the Northeast and April to September in the Central-West. Match that range with the variety's packet and local advice. Outside Brazil, use your local extension service's calendar.

Build your calendar

Write one line per crop and record the sowing month, transplanting when needed and the first harvest. Reuse the record next season to adjust what worked where you live.
