How to grow potatoes at home, even in a bucket

By Fazendinha Retrô Team · Published on

You can grow potatoes in a bucket suited to planting, with holes and enough volume to keep the tubers covered. Use seed potatoes from a known source and follow the planting season for your region.

Cover little by little

Place the seed potatoes in loose potting mix and keep enough water without saturating it. As the plant grows, add mix around the base to keep direct light off the tubers.

Harvest carefully

When the variety's cycle ends, empty the bucket onto a tarp to find the tubers. Discard potatoes that are green, heavily sprouted or spoiled.
