How to grow pumpkins: space, watering and harvest
Vining pumpkins need room to spread and a spot with plenty of light. Check the variety's growth habit and plan the vine's path before planting.
Organize the planting area
Keep walkways clear, use soil that drains and water at the base. Watch where flowers and fruit form to avoid stepping on the vine.
Watch for harvest time
Rind color and hardness change with the variety. Compare with the packet and cut the stem with a clean tool when the fruit is ready.
