Facebook farming games: what was a hit and what is left
FarmVille was one of the games that defined the era of social farming games on Facebook. Invitations, gifts and neighbors gave you another reason to return to your beds besides the harvest.
What was a hit
In Zynga's retrospective, the original FarmVille is described as reaching more than 700 million installs over its lifetime. The company also lists FrontierVille, which took the task-and-expansion loop to a frontier setting.
What you can find today
The original shut down in December 2020. Zynga offers FarmVille 2 for desktop and FarmVille 3 on mobile. Fazendinha Retrô brings together a market, neighbors and farming in a browser campaign.
Names of other games, stores and companies mentioned belong to their owners. Fazendinha Retrô is not affiliated with them; details come from their official pages as of the update date.
